I started Essential Forms, Inc., an IT Consulting company, in 2004 to assist small businesses and non-profits in the Chicago-land area.
I spent his formative college years in Seattle, WA getting a little closer to nature, and finding foothold in the world of civic discourse.
Constantly torn between the roles of a technologist and a humanist, I try to seek out new ways to use open technologies to facilitate expression and informed discovery.
In 2009, I founded No1, Cooperative, a design and development shop (Creative IT we like to call it) with Liam Montgomery. Collaboratively, we leveraged the fact that successful design is not just a matter of good code, or beautiful aesthetics, but whether or not those aspects synthesize into a meaningful and productive experience.
At No1 Cooperative, we try and make websites a vehicle for story-telling. Each entry may have it’s own textual narrative and individual story to tell, but an entire website should speak to it’s owner’s intention. It should speak in imagery, use of space, palette, typography, motion, and function.
I feel at my best when I am able to provide these things to a client, regardless of their budget.
When I’m not pondering code and application design, I am a student of politics, practice yoga, and produce music.
